What is Toughened Glass?
Toughened or tempered glass is a type of safety glass processed by controlled thermal treatment to increase its strength compared with normal annealed glass. In the toughening process, the glass is subjected to heat till its softening point and then rapidly cooled in a controlled atmosphere. This makes it 4 to 5 times stronger than a normal annealed glass of similar thickness and size. A fully toughened glass is considered as a safety glass as it disintegrates into small and blunt pieces when broken, hence reducing the probability and degree of injuries.
Toughened glasses can also withstand high temperature differentials as compared to non-toughened glass thereby reducing thermal breakage. Toughening process does not change the light transmission and solar properties of the glass. However tempered glass cannot be cut or altered, therefore, it is manufactured as per the requirement of the customer or client.

Toughened
We make toughened glass safer and durable by lowering the risk of impact related breakage. This type of glass is heated to more than 600°C and then quickly cooled. If broken, it shatters into many small blunt pieces. The granular chunks are less likely to cause any type of injury. Tempered glass retains the light transmission and energy properties of the base product. Once toughened, they can no longer be cut or shaped.
